Synergy Creation – Generally overestimated and/or delayed?

    Hi colleagues,
    how is your experience about the estimated amount of synergy creation during DD versus the synergies achieved? Based on your experience, do you normally match the level target value ordo you think it is generally overestimated or delayed?



    In my experience, management is generally optimistic during the DD and transaction pre-close unfortunately not paying great attention on integration cost or details on activities to realise the target synergies. More often that not, actual synergy (increase in revenue or cost reduction) is unfortunately both often overestimated AND delayed.
