Capturing synergies is of course a crucial aspect of post-merger integrations. Some of the elements I’ve seen in previous deals entail:
– Setting clear goals and targets (KPI’s) and clearly communicating the progress. Make people accountable for specific targets (agreed upon in mutual consent).
– Establishing a dedicated team with sufficient seniority. The team should consist of members with relevant skills and experience and should be made accountable in case KPI’s / results deviate from the initial target.
– Developing an implementation play with prioritized synergies. As it’s hard to achieve all synergies all at once, make sure to prioritize them and map them on a short-term and long-term plan.
