Why do you think Polycom was so successful with their early acquisitions? I found that case study interesting — risky yet profitable with almost every acquisition they made. I really didn’t see any real strategic decisions or conversations within the company. Is that a common practice with larger-scale acquisitions? Or small-scale? Or really neither?

I think it’s because they focused on strategic acquisitions that helped them to develop certain specific area or technology that would increase market share or product offerings. They also acquired smaller, newer entities that were easy to integrate.
