Stupid question–can someone give me a practical definition of a pitchbook.

    Beckie Callahan

When I worked at a sell-side investment banking firm, I created pitchbooks. Basically, this is a written document form of a ‘pitch’ like a sales pitch and it is typically a confidential memorandum outlining a summary of a business for sale. It may include company history, product lines, detailed descriptions of facilities, perhaps photographs and financial statements. Recast financials and projections may be included.

    Beau White

Pitchbook is another name for a service that provides research for private equity, venture cap and M&A firms.

I agree with all of the above, generally is the provision of important information that an acquirer would be interested in viewing at a glance before committing to looking deeper.
