When we have internal project managers handle the integration of a new company, we have the tendency to keep them working with the new company for all future product work as well. What is a good way to close out the integration and had over the product support work when the two companies are fully integrated from the M&A?

I prefer to have a succession plan in place for all resources that actively contribute to M/A activities. These are resources with tremenduous knowledge gained from the M/A activities and should be rewarded with a challenging new position that leverages the expertise gain and used during the integration process.

Utilizing our framework we “turn over to the business” each divisional workstream. The transition date is determined by the kick off of each deal so that each stakeholder and SME is aware.
