    Hi Folks, how essential, or non-essential as such the case may be, is it that an M & A practitioner have indepth knowledge of a particular industry in order to provide typical M & A consulting services to that industry ?

    Bob – In my experience it will depend on what elements of M&A consulting services. Always helpful if you are advising in the deal/diligence arena, as terms, valuations, key players, are aligned with specific industries and types of businesses. Less essential if supporting financing or legal. For integration, likely less important as your integration team should be assembled with the proper insights or resources to obtain. Its more about best practices.
