What was your favourite assignment topic. Mine was the takeover of Cadbury’s by Kraft. The reason is I remember it well from the news coverage at the time in 2009. I also very much like Cadbury’s chocolate, and have visited the Cadbury’s factory with my daughters – I would recommend it!
My favorite topic is related to the Daimler-Chrysler merger, which really opened my eyes on why that merger failed, especially when referencing social-cultural issues that destroyed value between the two companies.
I have covered in an assignment the Syngenta-ChecmChina, which is my favorite primarily due to the strategic importance of the deal. Syngenta, a prominent blue-chip company listed on the SMI (Swiss Market Index), was acquired by ChemChina, a Chinese player, marking a significant moment in the globalization of the industry. The transaction also underscored the complexities of cross-border M&A, as U.S. authorities took nearly a year to grant permission for the takeover. I had anticipated that U.S. regulators would impose very high hurdles for ChemChina, given the strategic nature of the agricultural sector and the geopolitical considerations involved, which made the deal even more intriguing to follow.
