We often hear examples of M&A involving a company acquiring a company smaller than itself, ie: think of all the tech start-ups that constantly get bought out such as Facebook purchasing Whattsapp. However, there have been examples of smaller companies acquiring firms significantly larger than itself, such the transnational acquisition of American engineering firm Parsons by the much smaller Australian company Worley to form the organisation we know today Worley Parsons. It would interesting to hear of others, and learn how the complexities of such mergers are carried, particularly with the financial aspect of funding such a move.

A merger deal will be more suitable than acquisition in such case, because there are always limitations when it comes to financing large size acquisition deals.
