My observation is the executive decisions of merger/divestiture decisions are taken by closed group of members which is confidential until the decisions are made. The general tendency of the organization is to experience certain degree of resistance/discomfort during different stages of the integration. In order to sensitize the change with positive outlook to the audience who are either distressed or resistance to the change, the senior leaders of the organization need to come to front lines to address the resistance. In all the M&A deals I was involved, the teams are anxious about the change and concerned about the impact on their teams and concerned about the cultural dynamics.
