How has the rise of remote work and digital transformations affected due diligence processes in M&A, particularly in terms of data accessibility, collaboration among teams, and the challenges related to cybersecurity and regulatory compliance?

    Hi Julia,

I think remote and digital has definitely changed the DD process, in positive and negative aspects. The positive aspects is in the digital availability of all information, all the right people can access the same information at the same moment. But in some M&A projects you see that there is much hesitance in sharing this digital information (due to confidentiality and security of information sharing). And then things get complicated, especially with cross border activities.

    Hi Julia,
Great topic. I think remote work and digital transformation has significantly reshaped due diligence processes in mergers and acquisitions, impacting key areas such as data accessibility, collaboration, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
While remote work and digital have made due diligence in M&A more accessible and faster, caution needs to be had as they have also introduced complexities related to cybersecurity and regulatory adherence. Companies must balance the efficiencies of digital tools with robust risk management strategies to safeguard the process’s integrity.

I believe that the remote work will have an impact on DD, I will highlight on the positive impact, for example when setting the DD team you can assign the most experienced personnel regardless if they are on site or not, and definitely will be more used for the cross boarder M&A deals.

The cultural aspect of due diligence has significantly evolved. Assessing a company’s culture has become increasingly challenging, especially when most employees visit the office only a few times per month—or even per year. What is the importance of this DD, and how it impacts success?
