Cultural due diligence is often overlooked in M&A, yet it can significantly influence integration outcomes. It is not about determining which organization has a better culture, but understanding differences in leadership, decision-making, communication and working practices. Identifying these gaps early helps management anticipate challenges, retain key talent and build on the strengths of both organizations.

I agree. Employee productivity, which ultimately has a direct impact on the company’s overall performance and revenue generation, is often heavily influenced by the level of harmony and collaboration among employees. Bringing different organizational cultures together can create challenges if the integration is not managed carefully. Differences in working styles, values, and management approaches may lead to employees forming internal groups, prioritizing their loyalty to individual managers rather than the organization as a whole, or even feeling disengaged and considering opportunities elsewhere.

For this reason, I believe organizational culture is one of the most critical factors to consider during integration. Building a unified culture that promotes collaboration, shared values, employee engagement, and a sense of belonging is essential to achieving sustainable integration and ensuring that employees work towards the success of the organization as a whole.
