Business Analysis, Project Manager in M&A

    Greetings,

    Good day,

    Based on what I’ve learned from the Essentials of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) package, there is a significant similarity in the practices of business analysis rules, regardless of the strategies used. These practices involve processes and tools to define the target company and acquire it. I believe that both the business analyst and the project manager of the acquisition should be responsible for performing these tasks. What are your thoughts on this?

    I agree, as the collaboration between the BA and the PM is essential for the success of the M&A process. The BA expertise combined with PM planning skills, coordination and execution create a robust framework for managing the M&A complexities. working together can be ensured that the acquisitions are well defined, and effectively integrated, maximizing the value of the merger.

    Business analysist and project manager both have strengths. ideally, you would have team members who have both so that they can contribute wholly to the PMI initiative. Having a dedicated full time resource that can understand and sort data related to the M&A Deal + lead and drive momentum of the work streams is key. All this to day, a dedicated PM or BA may not be the best fit, but rather, individuals with both skillsets will in my opinion prove most effective on the M&A team, ideally working from the IMO.
