Finance integration can be a strenuous workstream during integration due to the pressure since day one and the workload that it implies to fully integrate the acquired company to logics and systems of the parent Co.
Which are, based on your experience the most critical points or burdens you can envisage? To me IT system for sure is one.

Great point—finance integration is definitely one of the most pressure-filled workstreams. In my experience, the most critical burdens tend to be:

IT systems, as you mentioned, especially when financial data structures or reporting timelines differ.
Chart of accounts alignment, which can delay consolidated reporting if not addressed early.
Intercompany processes, like billing and reconciliation, which often get overlooked until they cause friction.
Day One readiness for payroll, vendor payments, and tax compliance; these can’t slip.

In my view the most critical point of a finance integration is to allow more time for a proper solution, rather than making under too much time pressure a big mess. Both companies need to understand each others financials, in order to work together to get for example a mapping for the chart of accounts.
Financial reporting can temporarily be done outside the system. Most companies already use other software or tools to create their financial reporting.
