Perhaps I am looking at this from a different angle, but I really don’t see a difference from a change management standpoint between not-for-profit and for-profit companies. As it relates to change management, it has nothing to do with the business model and everything to do with the people, the organizational culture, and the unique challenges that they face that must be overcome. The systems, processes, equipment… they all change easily. People, that is where you get resistance. Focus your efforts on understanding the people of the organization(s), their resistance, the WHY, and make sure that you have a strong consultant to lead the Human Capital Due Diligence component of your transaction. You do that and you will resolve your change management concerns.
